Malta Overtime Rules
Malta's standard week is 40 hours. Where overtime is not covered by a Wage Regulation Order, it is paid at 1.5× (time-and-a-half) for each hour worked over 40 a week.
- Overtime not set by a Wage Regulation Order is paid at +50% (1.5×) over 40 hours a week.
- Sector Wage Regulation Orders (WROs) may set different overtime rates.
- Many collective agreements or contracts provide higher rates, especially for Sundays and public holidays.
This applies the 1.5× default rate; your Wage Regulation Order, collective agreement or contract may set a different figure.
