Czech Republic Overtime Rules
The Czech standard week is 40 hours. Overtime is paid at the regular wage plus a premium of at least +25% of average earnings, or compensated with equivalent time off.
- Overtime premium of at least +25% of average earnings, or paid time off in lieu instead.
- Overtime is limited to 8 hours a week on average and 150 hours a year (extendable by agreement).
- Work on public holidays carries a higher premium (commonly +100% or a substitute day off).
This applies the +25% statutory minimum; a collective agreement can set a higher rate, and time off in lieu can replace the premium.
Frequently asked questions

In Czech Republic, overtime above 40 hours a week is paid at a statutory premium of 25%. Higher rates can apply for night, Sunday and public-holiday work. See the rules below for the exact figures.
